You should come, since I'm teaching with A'lan! I'm a little tired of not having a decent blues class out there in the ballroom scene and we've compiled a great class to reflect the need. :) I'm so happy to be teaching with him! He's been teaching blues in SF for a few years and is just coming back from another blues exchange in Chicago.
NOTE - if there's enough interest, it will be more of a intermediate to advanced course. Depends on who shows up and the skill level. We're also more than happy to help with any moves you want to learn or any problems you feel you have in your dance.
Blues basic for ballroom dancers!
With the enormous amount of crossover between the blues and ballroom scene, it’s a great way to get introduced to this fun and sexy dance form!
In the first part of the class, Ashley and A’lan with be teaching the four fundamentals that will leave you ready to dance confidently to any blues song! They’ll be focusing on partner connection, footwork, and technique that includes open and closed position, the slow drag, touch and go, pulsing, and the blues traveling step. Later on they’ll be covering musicality, how to bring creativity and playfulness to a dance, and examining the energetic differences between waltz & ballroom styles and blues.
